What Conditions Does Pet Stem Cell Therapy Relieve?

Stem cell therapy can help with a range of conditions, including:

  • Hip dysplasia
  • Inflammation
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Bone and tissue injuries
  • Enlarged hearts
  • Degenerative myelopathy
  • Metabolic injuries
  • Lung disorders
  • Anemia
  • Chronic disease
  • and more

This treatment is safe for cats and dogs, as well as large animals. If your veterinarian in Council Bluffs and Glenwood thinks your pet is a good candidate for stem cell treatments, we will mention it to you during a wellness exam.

What to Expect With Pet Stem Cell Therapy?

Stem cells come from the bone marrow or fat of your cat or dog, or another member of their species. Our vets can either extract your pet's stem cells or inject another animal's stem cells into tissue. For something like a tissue injury, for example, our vets will inject the injured tissue with stem cells. The stem cells will tamp down inflammation, reduce pain, start to heal the injury at the cellular level, and grow new healthy tissue (rather than scar tissue) over the injury.

Stem cell therapy is gentle and natural, compared with other therapies. There are few risks associated with the procedure; the main risk is from the anesthesia, which is used during the process of harvesting stem cells from your pet. Your pet may need two or three injections to address the underlying condition, so stem cell therapy can be expensive. However, many pet owners find the price acceptable for the comfort it brings their pet.
